The award winners were as follows:-

WR - Ty Berry

WR – Ty Berry picked up an award

U19 Coaches Award was presented to Jack Hoad.

Jack has had a strong season with the clubs Junior team and displayed a great attitude and desire to learn the sport all year round, as well as his enjoyment of contact and tackling.

U19 Players Player Award was awarded to James Daniels.

Like Jack, James has worked very hard this season with an extremely high attendance rate at training. James is a focused player and one to watch in the future with very strong upper body strength and a passion to learn the game.

Special Team’s MVP went to P – Josh Perry

Josh was a pivotal part of the Conquerors Special Teams unit in their 2015 season making a number of crucial punts during the season repeatedly setting up our defence in great field position. With a model professional attitude towards the sport and his own development, Josh is expected to have an even better 2016 season with Hastings.

Offensive MVP was presented to WR – Ty Berry

Ty provided some memorable moments in the 2015 season clocking an impressive 30+ catches in his first season. Ty displays a great professional attitude and enthusiasm for both the team and his sport. We’re expecting even bigger things in 2016 from Ty after his first league season is now under his belt.

Defensive MVP was awarded to DL – Dan Burt

Dan was the winner of 2014’s Most Improved Player Award and went on into 2015 continuing that theme. Dan recorded a number of sacks over the 2015 season and came close to even more on several occasions. Dan is extremely passionate about being a Conqueror and gives everything he has in every game he plays. A true workhorse that loves to eat QB’s.

Coaches Award was awarded to OL – Jack Bryer

Jack has excelled in the 2015 season. Coming into the sport with no experience Jack has become a pivotal member of a very strong and unified Offensive Line. Bryer showed huge determination and guile in all games this year and his strength is something that causes DL’s and LB’s problem’s all day. A real ambassador and well respected member of the team, Jack was a worthy winner of this Coaches pick award.

and finally….

Sam Oldfield took home the double.

Sam Oldfield took home the double.

Players Player and Team MVP once again went to S – Sam Oldfield

‘Sambo’ has been instrumental in leading the team both on and off the field in the clubs first ever league season campaign. With 6 years experience playing britball, Sambo had quickly become a driving force in the Conquerors mentality. A motivator on the sideline, a leader on the field, and a great listener and student of the game, Sambo spent 2015 showing our Rookies how it was done but more importantly, showing them how to improve their own game. Oldfield clocked 10 sacks on the season, a number you can be sure he will be keen to improve on in the 2016 season and definitely deserved to walk away from this event with two awards in his hands.

During the awards club Founder and Chairman Chris Chillingworth chose to highlight the friends and family of the club. “They play a huge part in supporting our team, from attending games and cheering us on from the sidelines, to stepping in and helping out with chain crew and sideline crew for the officials, and ferrying people to and fro. We cannot take them for granted as it’s this community ethic that really makes our club.”

Chillingworth also picked out Coaches Mark Jefferies and Luke Boorer for the work they have done in running and building the clubs Youth programme. “I don’t know about you, but i would have loved to have been given the opportunity to play this sport from 8 years old, it’s a very exciting time for Hastings”.

The Hastings Conquerors AGM takes place on Monday October 19th whereby the election of the new committee team will drive the club forward through the 2016 season. On Nov 1st the club are holding their first Rookie Day of the pre-season at Battle Sports Centre, Claverham College. More details of this event can be found here.
