The club are delighted to announce that they have officially re-appointed James Rogers as the Head Coach to lead our 2016 campaign, carrying on his work which has now spanned 3 years at the club. Coach Rogers was notified of his successful application this morning following a successful interview process.
When asked his thoughts on his re-appointment Coach Rogers told hastingsconquerors.com “I’m truly excited about heading up the club’s on field activities for a 3rd year. We have lots of changes planned for the coming year to really challenge our players and with any luck our efforts will convert into wins. A new year, new coaching approach and a new team. Bring it on!”
Coach Rogers has been with the club since the official inception of the team in 2013, overseeing the clubs Associate year in 2014 and its first BAFA National League campaign in 2015. As per the rules of the UK’s first co-operative American Football Club every committee member and coaching staff steps down at the end of the season and has the option to re-apply each year giving opportunities to everyone to put themselves forward for roles encouraging progression amongst the club.
Club Chairman Chris Chillingworth explained “We are delighted to have James leading our coaching team for another year. We all learned a lot together last year and continue to progress together. James and myself have managed to build a strong working relationship during that time. He continues to develop as a Head Coach just as I am developing as a Chairman and our players are developing on the field. We loved his ideas for the forthcoming season which have come from realising the areas of improvement from last season and finding solutions. However, some of James’ best attributes are his passion for the game, his growing technical knowledge of the sport and his pursuit for improving himself as a coach which is a rarity in my experience. The new committee has done a great job in looking at our options and appointing James as our No. 1 for this forthcoming year and they’ve carried that task out at a level where I am confident we have made the best decision for the club. James has the committees full support.”
Coach Rogers will now join the committee team in interviewing and ultimately selecting the clubs co-ordinators for the forthcoming season before reviewing applications for positional coaching positions soon thereafter with a view to have the overall coaching structure in place by early November.
