Hastings Conquerors are delighted to announce the appointment of two new coaching co-ordinators for the 2016 season.

Nigel Williamson has successfully been appointed Defensive Co-ordinator whilst Chris Chillingworth has been appointed Offensive Co-ordinator.

These positions were filled Wednesday morning with both coaches being notified over the phone by Head Coach James Rogers after a week of interviews held by members of the committee and the head coach himself. This process is a new feature of the clubs drive to become more professional in its approach both on and off the field and to help create a stable and unified coaching setup within the club. Both co-ordinators are expected to work within the overall coaching strategy created by Coach Rogers ensuring a unified approach to all on-field operations.

Williamson was a feature of last seasons Defensive setup working as the teams linebacker coach in what was his first season as a coach following a UK based playing career. Chillingworth, the clubs founder and chairman, has over 10 years experience in coaching sports and joins as co-ordinator after involvement on the field last season as a part time coaching assistant.

Newly appointed Vice Chairman Tom Cleary who sat on the interviewing selection panel explained “What really impressed me about the successful candidates was the amount of thought and effort that had gone into their preparations for the interview process.  They have all clearly learnt a lot from their involvement in the club to date and are committed to improving our achievements on and off the field.  I am confident that we will have a strong coaching ethos this coming year, that training sessions will be more challenging and more rewarding, and that we will pose a real threat to many of the teams in our division come game day.”
