The first Rookie Day of the year was held at Battle Sports 3G, Claverham College on Sunday November 1st with 21 Rookies attending the event to get a taste for the sport and life with the Conquerors.

The event was deemed a huge success considering the numbers which were higher than expected despite the clash with the NFL UK Game at Wembley on the same day which saw 50% of last years playing squad missing.

The club recorded a spike in Junior football participants and at Adult level, which bodes well for Head Coach James Rogers hope of bolstering the team ahead of the new year and ultimately for April when the 2016 season begins.

The Conquerors have started early this year in an attempt to use the time to work on improving simple fundamentals of the game in a bid to try and make the club more competitive on the field during the season ahead.

With the Head Coach away for the session, new Offensive Co-Ordinator Chris Chillingworth ran the session alongside new Defensive Co-Ordinator Nigel Williamson.

Chillingworth explained “the session was very successful and both myself and Coach Williamson were impressed by the talent and enthusiasm seen by the new guys who came down. I think we gave them a warm welcome and a decent taste of the sport. I know a few of them seemed very excited about coming to the next Rookie Day and hopefully we can retain and large number of these guys and make them a member of our family for the forthcoming season. Hopefully we’ll get to meet a few more new faces on 15th in Eastbourne too“.

Hastings Conquerors next Rookie Day is this Sunday 15th November at Hampden Park Sports Centre, Brodrick Road, Hampden Park, Eastbourne, BN22 9RQ from 11:00 till 13:00. Bring some fluids for re-hydration and suitable footwear for 3G.
